UIL COACHES CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (CCP) - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
1. What is the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Coaches Certification Program (CCP)?
The formerly called RCP (Rules Compliance Program) consists of both UIL and state law requirements. The UIL has required coaches to complete the prescribed components of RCP on a yearly basis. Beginning in 2018 the RCP became the Coaches Certification Program (CCP). The change will recognize coaches as UIL Certified. Additionally this program now includes a “Fundamentals of Coaching” course for all first year Texas coaches and also requires ALL football coaches to take and pass a Mandatory Tackling Certification course once every two years. The THSCA will be offering lectures at coaching school each year that will help coaches to satisfy their CCP requirements.
2. How do I receive credit for CCP Courses I complete at Coaching School?
In order to receive credit for these courses, coaches must FIRST create an account for themselves in the UIL Portal on Register My Athlete (RMA) AND THEN then they will need to add their THSCA member ID number to their portal profile. (See instructions below on how to add your THSCA member ID number to your profile.)
All CCP course lectures at Coaching School will have THSCA staff on hand scanning attendees’ convention badges for verification of completion. The THSCA will be responsible for communicating the verification of completion list directly to the UIL and RMA. RMA will use the THSCA member number you have added to your profile to verify course completion and update your UIL portal profile courses as complete.
1. Go to the UIL Register My Athlete Website and login: uil.registersmyathlete.com
Note: If you have not already created a profile for yourself in the RMA System you will need to click the "Create Account" button and do so.
2. Once you have logged in or created your account, continue on by clicking "Go To Portal".
**If you are logged in, you can return to the main portal page at any time by clicking the UIL logo in the top left corner of the page.
3. Once on the Main Portal Page, Look for the box on the right labeled "Connected Associations" click on the "Manage" Tab.
4. Then click the “Add Association” button.
5. Choose "THSCA" from the dropdown menu, enter your assigned permanent THSCA member number and hit "Save."

4. What CCP Courses can I get credit for at Coaching School?
The THSCA will offer CCP course options every year included in the Coaching School registration fee for attendees, the only course not offered as part of Coaching School is the ATAVUS Tackling Certification. That course can only be completed online through ATAVUS.
5. Do I need to sign up in advance for any of these courses at THSCA Coaching School?
No, THSCA plans to offer in person and virtual options for you to complete UIL CCP courses as part of the 2023 Coaching School registration. You need only to register and pay the convention fee to gain access.
6. What are my opportunities to compete the Mandatory Tackling Certification ?
Online Tackling Certification is available at www.atavus.com/texas for $50 per coach. For further explanation on Tackling Certification visit: https://www.uiltexas.org/football/page/atavus-online-procedures-directions-for-tackling-training
7. What if I am already in compliance on my Concussion Training hours, but it does not reflect that in the UIL Portal?
The protocol for the proof of Concussion Training will remain the same as it has in the past. If you complete the course online or in some manner outside what is offered by the THSCA at in-person training, your district will just need to have that certificate on file somewhere as proof of completion. As long as your certificate of completion for both hours of mandated Concussion Training can be produced you are in compliance with the UIL CCP requirements, even if that is not reflected though the UIL Portal.
8. Do I take a test in all courses?
If you attend any of the CCP courses at coaching school, your attendance alone will suffice for completion. If you participate in virtual coaching school CCP courses, there will be a couple of comprehension questions at the end of each course to verify lecture completion and you will be required to enter your THSCA ID # to verify your identity.
9. Will I be able to get credit if I get there late?
We will be closing the doors as soon as the lecture begins and no one else will be admitted.
